One of the most popular streets of Amersfoort is Muurhuizen (Wall Houses). This crooked street is known as a characteristic part of Amersfoort, where the medieval features are still completely intact and all history has been preserved. Here you really go back in time!
Personally, I think this street is one of the most beautiful parts of Amersfoort. Not only because of the unique architectural style, but also because it is usually very quiet. The street is practically car-free and because most people walk in the shopping street, it is often very peaceful here.

Muurhuizen is definitely a street you should not miss during your visit to Amersfoort. The route is less than a kilometer long, so easy to walk for every level. The route will take approximately 15-20 minutes at a relaxed pace.
Halfway along the route you pass the imposing Kamper Binnenpoort, one of the best-known and most beautiful city gates of Amersfoort. It is an impressive medieval structure built around 1425 that was part of the city wall for centuries.
Tip: At the Kamperbinnenpoort, take a short detour into the shopping street and treat yourself to authentic Dutch fries at Frituur Van Gogh. A perfect local snack enjoy half way your walk!
